Peek-a-boo! 🫣 It never gets dull watching a herd Peek-a-boo! 🫣

It never gets dull watching a herd of elephants. Sometimes you don’t even know if there are babies — as the adults do their best to keep them in the centre of the herd, sheltering them from potential danger.

But every now and again, you might see some little legs under a tummy or a window that gives you that perfect glimpse. 🥰

Feline Friday! 🐾 Have you ever seen a caracal in Feline Friday! 🐾

Have you ever seen a caracal in the wild? This medium-sized cat is distinguished by its pointed tufted ears - similar to the lynx in North America, although they are completely different species.

Caracals are incredibly agile, known to jump up to three metres in order to catch birds in flight! 🐦‍⬛

Add this to your list of ‘must-see lucky sightings’! 😉

Did you know that these are egg cases? Our marine programme provides an opportunity to sweep the coastal zone for these specimens as part of an ongoing research project.

It is a bit of a treasure hunt! 🙌

Once collected, you work with biologists to identify the different species found along the coast, and determine the diversity and abundance of each - comparing different coastal habitats. Egg cases can belong to sharks or skates or chimaeras! 😎

🎥 Repost by @iamastcypriansgirl :

“Botswana was a soul-stirring expedition into the heart of conservation. Sleeping between a treehouse hide and the top of a koppie under a star-studded sky and shared guarding shifts around the fire through the night were part of the job.

Botswana taught us that conservation isn’t only about saving animals; it’s about preserving ecosystems, stories and their future. Ah Botswana! You’ve left your mark on us. We thank you for the gift of an everlasting shared passion for conservation that will draw out the best in us to always do our bit. “
